Mestalla brimming with emotions running high
Relive the emotional events that took place in the run-up to Valencia CF-Real Betis to pay tribute to the victims and those affected by the tragic flash floods
Valencia CF president Anil Murthy accompanied caretaker coach Voro González in the press room at the Ciudad Deportiva, where the squad will train to prepare for their game against Athletic Club.
Speaking briefly before Voro’s press conference, Mr. Murthy talked about the decisions taken the previous day, and thanked both Albert Celades and César Sánchez for their work:
“First of all, I want to publicly thank Albert Celades for his work and dedication since he joined us at a difficult time. He was brave and was able to transmit his commitment to help the team reach the Last 16 of the Champions League, for the first time in seven years, getting out of a tough group with brilliant wins over teams like Chelsea and Ajax. I also want to thank César Sánchez for his work since he joined the club in January as Director of Football. We wish both he and Albert all the best for the future.
“The priority right now is to make clear the importance of the six remaining LaLiga games this season. We all know Voro, and he needs no introduction: He is a Valencianista whose commitment to the club is above all else. We are in a negative dynamic of results and it was decided that it was necessary to make a change to help this great squad react to get into European competitions for another year. There are 18 points in play and, giving our best in each of the remaining games, anything is possible still.”
Thank you Voro for accepting this challenge once again. AMUNT Valencia CF!
